Everything about wide-format printing: a practical order guide
A large size alone does not define a banner, window graphic or interior print. Start with viewing distance, use conditions and the installation method.
Choose material for its purpose
Banner material, self-adhesive film and canvas serve different purposes. Specify indoor or outdoor use, the application surface and intended duration. Agree on material and protective finishing for those conditions.
Dimensions and viewing distance
Measure the whole installation area and identify the visible section. Fine details are more noticeable at close range. Agree on artwork requirements for the final size and viewing distance instead of imposing one resolution on every order.
Preparing artwork
Supply final artwork with clearly stated dimensions and scale. Use a vector logo where possible. Agree with the printer on cutting paths, margins, colour settings and text preparation before production.
Colour and a printed sample
Screen colour also depends on screen settings. If colour accuracy matters, discuss a test print on the chosen material. Surface finish and lighting can affect how the image appears.
Finishing and installation
Specify reinforced edges, eyelets, lamination, cutting or installation where needed. For large graphics, agree on joins between sections. For outdoor installation, discuss the supporting surface, fixings and weather conditions.
Details for a quote
Send width, height, quantity, use location, artwork, finishing and deadline. If installation is required, add site photos and dimensions so the printing and installation scope can be established.
