What is digital printing?
How digital printing works, when to choose it and what to share for a printing quote.
How it works
Digital printing sends artwork from a digital file to a printer without preparing offset printing plates. The equipment and substrate determine the available format, colour options and result.
Toner and inkjet printing
Common digital printing methods include toner and inkjet printing. They use different equipment and have different material requirements. The method is chosen according to the product, artwork and desired result.
Digital or offset printing
Digital printing is often suitable for short runs, proof copies and variable data. Offset can be economical for larger runs. There is no universal quantity threshold: preparation, paper, colour and finishing all affect the comparison.
Colour and proof copies
Screen colours can differ from printed colours. Explain critical colour requirements and whether you need a proof copy in advance. Cutting, folding and binding also affect the price and schedule.
What to share for a quote
Specify the product, size, quantity, paper, printed sides, colour, finishing and required date. Attach a print-ready PDF or describe the design help you need. Price and timing are confirmed after reviewing the file and brief.
